ASME
degree (1956) in Engineering from Michigan State University.
Majored in Mechanical Engineering and minored in Physics. I am a
Registered professional engineer in the states of Illinois and
California. Retired as a Principle engineer and an engineering
unit manager with the General Electric Co. in San Jose,
CA.
Getting
through college was not easy for me. I had very little
financial support. The Korean War broke out after my Sophomore
year and I had to take some time off to go to the Korean War. I
spent the year September 1952 to September 1953 in the Korean
War and was awarded three campaign battle stars, a bronze star
medal, and a Presidential citation.
I spent my entire engineering career in
the field of Nuclear Power-Energy systems, including land
based, naval ships, and outer space applications. I am a
pioneer in the development of Fast Breeder Reactor power
plants. In 1957 I started with the Enrico Fermi Nuclear power
plant in Monroe, Michigan, next joined Argonne National
Laboratory and participated in the design, construction
start-up and operation of the Experimental Breeder Reactor II
(EBR II) located in Idaho, the Clinch River Fast Breeder Power
plant, and finally to General Electric for development of the
commercial Fast Breeder Reactor Power plant.
The environmentalists do not want Fast
Breeder Power plants. Presidents Carter and Clinton paid off
election favors by stopping the Clinch River plant progress,
and Clinton stopped Argonne National Laboratories'
Experimental Breeder Reactor II after it had been operated
successfully for 30 years and was generating power for the
National Reactor Engineering Test Site in Idaho as well as
performing value experiments both for the US and Japan.
Clinton also stopped all government support for the Fast
Breeder development and turned to supporting the renewable
energy concepts on which billions of dollars have been spent.
I can find very little results for this effort.
. Of course I am biased toward nuclear
power, but I do not see any other source of energy that can
supply humans sufficient energy for as long as it will ever be
needed on this earth.
I do not ask for or take any
money or put advertisements on this Web site. In other words I
do not get paid to give someone else's views whether or not I
agree with them. Contrast this to the environmental and
religious organizations who ask for and get significant
amounts of money and salaries.
As you can see I do not pull
any punches in this Web Site. I have always been amazed at the
Presbyterians in the hinterland who do not have a scintilla of
knowledge of the national PCUSA's policies or actions. I
submit that 90% of the members in the hinterland do not know
that the PCUSA are anti-Nukes and soft technology advocates
right along with the secular humanistic environmentalists. I
once was a member of the Presbyterian church, but left when
they came up with their anti-nuke policies. I asked them if
they would like to enter into discussion with professional
engineers on the subject. No was their answer. They make their
own decisions and don't bother them with the facts. The
environmentalists supply the facts. Strange bed fellows. The
environmentalists, by and large, are not Christians. Their
deity is the earth.
One of my
other endeavors is financial math.. I wrote a book entitled
"The Mathematics of Personal Finance." The mathematics in this
book is not more advanced than ninth grade algebra. If you
would like to get a book it is $20.95 and can be bought through
Barnes & Noble.com, Boarders.com and any other book sellers.
It does not appear on book shelves. It is printed on demand and
mailed to the readers who ask for it.
College
students who do get the book think that is great and wished
their instructors would get it also. It was a hobby of mine
since I had to learn this subject to pass the State engineering
license exam. Also my youngest son has an MBA.
However,
if one reads this book they will never fall prey to the
cheating and obfuscation going on today in the financial world
that has many losing their homes, buying worthless insurance
policies, and making poor investments. etc. You will swim with
the sharks and survive. Your will be more astute about finance
than most bankers. |
